Under the collectivist cultures we have Horizontal Collectivism and Vertical Collectivism,these are classified as the patterns for resource distribution.The Horizontal Collectivism has to do with emphasizing interdependence and testing the extent to which the individuals in the collectivist cultures practice interdependence.The Vertical Collectivism is also about assessing how far can individuals emphasize interdependence,the difference is that it also assesses the extent to which individuals emphasize competitions with other groups.

People are interdependent.Planned marriages take place in a collectivist culture where parents plan the marriage of their children even if they are not in love.Other people's needs are prioritized more than ones needs.Family and the community are very important to people involved in collectivist cultures.People in this culture are self-sacrificing and they are encouraged to be loyal.

As the word says 'collectivist' , these cultures give a group priority over each individual in it.The needs and goals of the group are affirmed more than those of each individual.In collectivist cultures,affiliation and relationships with other group members emulate the main role in one's identity.Portugal,Turkey and Mexico are one of the countries that serve as examples of collectivist societies.
